Alex Jay

Up and Coming R&B Artist

A talented singer hailing from the city of Baltimore is focusing on the upstart of his career.  Already making moves from appearances on both NBC and BET to having the ear of the top record labels in the music industry, Alex Jay is soon to release his new single LOL (Love or Lust) and we had the opportunity to get to know him a little better before the release.

Kulture Vulturez: If correct you’re from Baltimore, what do you like about Baltimore and/or what are you proud about?

Alex Jay: Yes, I’m from Baltimore. I love the talent in Baltimore. It’s so much talent here that it’s insane and glad to be part of it.

Kulture Vulturez: What led you into singing?

Alex Jay: I started in church, but music to me was always therapeutic and my first time seeing how others reacted to my first song I ever did was the start of me loving it as a passion.

Kulture Vulturez: Any musical inspirations from the city of Baltimore?

Alex Jay: My musical inspirations would be Stevie Wonder, Justin Timberlake and the King of Pop Michael Jackson. As far as Baltimore I love all things Baltimore and beyond to be honest. It’s just that Baltimore has a melting pot of talent. From alternative to rock to hip hop and some pop.

Kulture Vulturez: Growing up as a kid or in school were you involved in any performing arts programs or classes?

Alex Jay: I haven’t gone to any programs or classes musically, but I can say that music runs in my family. Singing is literally in my bloodstream to where I would give my own self singing lessons or just randomly play guitar outside my window everyday and sing for hours.

Kulture Vulturez:  What did you grow up listening to?

Alex Jay: I grew up listening to a looooot. Too much to name but to say a few, Stevie Wonder, Justin Timberlake, MJ, Rascal Flatts, etc.

Kulture Vulturez:  You audition for the X-Factor, what made you want to try that and what was the experience like?

Alex Jay: I loved the thought of doing what I love to do, which is singing, and of course performing on live tv and of course performing in front of Demi Lovato. The experience was amazing and I couldn’t have asked for a better one.

Kulture Vulturez: What topics do you like to sing about?

Alex Jay: I’ll sing about anything. I like singing anything relatable or weird. Music I’ve no rules and by knowing that I like to have fun with my music.

Kulture Vulturez: Do you have plans to release any official projects and become a full-time artist?

Alex Jay: Yes, I will be releasing my album “MISUNDERSTOOD” very soon and my single “L.O.L.” (Love or Lust) will release on April 30, 2021. We have a drawing to give away $500 or a full home recording studio by Presonus!
