Meet and Get To Know Yung Esckimo
Kulture Vulturez: Growing up in Washington Heights, can you break that down what was it like for you?
Yung Esckimo: Growing up in Washington Heights, you growing up in a drug infested area where if you don’t hustle, you don’t eat. You growing up vicious, it’s Uptown. Washington Heights is mostly based around Dominicans and blacks.
Kulture Vulturez: You growing up and being from New York City, did that inspire you to eventually get involved in music?
Yung Esckimo: I mean, being from New York, you got the greatest in hip-hop to come out of here. You got Biggie, Hov (Jay-Z), 50 Cent, the Diplomats, and a lot of pioneers of the game are all from New York. So, that should inspire you to try to be one of the greats.
Kulture Vulturez: What can you say really motivated you to start rapping and getting involved into hip hop?
Yung Esckimo: It’s a passion of mine with doing music. If you are a hustler and you put one and two together, then you know, this is what I want to do. This is what I like to do. Now it’s all about me finding a way to make an income and live through what I want to do. So at the end of the day, just being a hustler, connecting both got me trying to build a career out here.

Kulture Vulturez: How do you feel your wave is going to be different from other artists who come from New York?
Yung Esckimo: We definitely different from everybody off the rip. The story is different. I’m doing this from the ground up, from the mud. I’m putting up my own bag. I’m coming in with my own label, and down the road, we’re going to have our own artists.
It’s just different than your regular average artist. I’m coming in as an executive. I’m coming in as a chairman, I’m coming in as the stylist, I’m coming in as the whole enchilada, from top to bottom, the whole vibe.
Kulture Vulturez: When did you realize that what you were doing was making an impact?
Yung Esckimo: When I’m in the hood on a regular day and I got random kids, even grown men coming up to me singing hooks and telling me that they see me. I see the music, I see what you are doing. I got older guys in the community, telling me that their son is trying to be an artist, give their number and try to make something happen.
That’s when I see the impact of what I’m doing. Actually reaching out into my neighborhood and watching and getting in tune with what I’m doing and having the community locked in with me. That’s when I realized what I’m doing is actually working and we got to keep it going.
Kulture Vulturez: How important is that to have the streets and the neighborhoods you come from really respect and rock with your movement?
Yung Esckimo: It’s important because when you jump off the porch, you want to do it for your community, because that’s who you want to take what you’re doing and embrace it.
That’s what you’re looking for to give you the okay and rock with you. That’s a key element to an artist really keep going, because if your hood don’t support you then something’s wrong.

You might want to get up and start your own company. If you wake up in the morning and you don’t want to jump on that treadmill, just throw on Yung Esckimo, then you might want to open up a gym.
It’s just that hustle of the music, that grindin’ music that music that gives you ambition to keep going and just take it a step closer to your goals and manifest. Its that music to keep you going. You falling asleep on the road and you got another hour to go. Put on that Yung Esckimo and you might drive another three hours. You might pass your destination.
Kulture Vulturez: You also have a release this coming fall?
Yung Esckimo: I got a release coming this fall. Blue Magic inspired by American Gangster the movie. They can expect the realities of you coming from a gritty place and what you have to do in order for you to be successful and beat the odds. It goes into deep detail of I’m getting it out the mud.

Kulture Vulturez: Is there anything else you would like to share or that I left out?
SCAM Inc.: [Yeah, that we are also running a label]. Not only being a rapper or an artist, but an actual executive. The name of the label is SCAM Inc. The word scam, like being scammed. The word scam has such a negative depiction to it, and we flipped it on its head and it really stands for Success Comes After Manifestation.
That’s a point that we really want to drive because without manifestation and without you understanding that it takes work, and not just a vision. Without the vision, it don’t matter how much work you do. So those things work hand in hand, and that’s a message that we really push to our fans and just to people in general that the ball is in your hands. You can do whatever you want. You just got to put the work in.
Yung Esckimo: When you look at Scam Inc, you got to look at No Limit, Cash Money, Roc-A-Fella, or CMG, and that’s what we aspire to be on a daily basis.
Kulture Vulturez: Running SCAM Inc., what are the steps that are needed to make it grow?
Yung Esckimo: You need consistency. You need to be dedicated. You need to know that this is what you want to do. Because anybody could tell you they want to do this. But when you got to put your bread up and you got to get it out the mud, it’s a little bit different than you just acquiring about things.
Anybody can tell you they want to do this and do that. The dream is free, but the hustle is sold separately.
