PAWG (Phat Ass White Girls)
Over the years, the “Phat Ass White Girls” or PAWG category became a recognizable niche within adult entertainment, especially among urban and Black adult-film audiences. While the style existed earlier, it grew more visible during the late 2000s and 2010s, when studios began producing more films centered on curvy white adult film performers’and interracial themes.
One of the earliest series connected to what would later be understood as the PAWG genre was LBO’s “Bubble Butts,” released throughout the 1980s and 1990s, long before the PAWG label had likely entered common use. By later standards, many of the performers featured in the series were not especially representative of what the genre would eventually become, often appearing more petite than curvy.
Another earlier examples were Coast to Coast’s “Best Butt in the West,” a five-part series that ran from 1992 to 2001. Around the same time, Big Top released its “Fat Fannies” series, which became a long-running line with more than ten entries during the early and mid-1990s. By the late 1990s, other companies had begun exploring similar themes, including Filmco with “Big Butt Babes” and Sam Shaft with “Big Butt Models for Hire.”
As the 1990s came to a close, larger adult studios also began producing titles that helped shape the genre’s direction. Evil Angel’s “Buttman” series continued into the 2000s and became one of the better-known franchises associated with this broader focus. Metro also contributed with Big Booty Hos in 1999, while Zero Tolerance entered the space in the early 2000s with Ass Cleavage.
Channel 69’s Mega Butt series was another notable entry in the 2000s wave of butt-focused productions, running for more than 30 installments. Much of the series featured lesser-known or amateur performer. By 2004 and 2005, the genre was becoming more prominent. Black Ice, a company that often catered to urban and Black adult-film audiences, also released several entries under the “Juicy White Booty” name. Around the same time, Hush Hush Entertainment produced “Bubble Butt Bonanza”, adding to its large catalog of more than one hundred films, many of which featured interracial themes and unconventional concepts.
Other companies brought their own variations to the genre. Candy Shop’s Booty Quake series featured a diverse roster of performers and was not limited only to white women, also including Asian, Latina, and other performers from different backgrounds. This helped broaden the appeal of big-booty-themed adult films beyond a single racial or ethnic category.
Not to leave out some of the most premium studios, like Elegant Angel became prominent for its “Big Wet Asses” series, while Bangbros began producing its “Ass Parade” series and Reality Kings with its “Monster Curves” and “Extreme Asses.”
By the late 2000s and early 2010s, some studios became closely associated with the PAWG style. Evasive Angles produced a number of series, like “Giant White Greeze Butts,” “Big Butt Smashdown,” “Big Bubble-Butt Cheerleaders,” “Big White Wet Butts,” “Big Slippery White Butts,” and more.
Bubble Butt Inc. was one company that built much of its identity around the genre during that period. Another important names was Alexander DeVoe Video, which released the “Phat Ass White Booty” series in the late 2000s, and Justin Slayer’s “Big Booty White Girls.” These series ran for multiple installments and featured many of the notable PAWG performers of that era.
Together, these films and studios helped establish PAWG-themed content as a lasting niche within adult entertainment. What began as scattered titles in the 1990s developed into a more defined and marketable category by the 2000s, eventually becoming especially popular with urban and Black adult-film audiences during the late 2000s and 2010s.
