In this Central American country that sits on the border of South America and is only miles away from the Caribbean is a strong culture of music, a culture of Panama reggaeton music. Representing the rising scene of Panamanian reggaeton artists is an extensive lineup that holds some of the world’s most talented reggaeton and trap artists.

Home to a long list of famous people from baseball and futbol (soccer) players to musicians to actresses and actors, the country of Panama has for long produced well-accomplished and often very gifted Panamanians that have had the opportunity to take their talents abroad.

One famous person that should be acknowledge is El General. This Panamanian artist is one of the true pioneers of Latin America’s urban music. While his music is not considered as reggaeton, El General was one of the first artists of Latin America to perform within the genre of reggae. Performing reggae music in Spanish, El General was well ahead of his time as today’s reggaeton can be considered a Latin version of reggae and dancehall with its own twist.
