List of the Top Hungarian Rap Artists

At the core of Central Europe is the rising hip-hop scene of Hungarian rappers. This accompanies the renowned city of Budapest and other exclusive customs and cultures of Hungary, making Hungarian rap one of the country’s most secret gems.

Hungary’s population of 9 million people is more than enough to support rap and hip hop music as a stable market within the country. While the nation has a rich tradition of classical music and a strong likening towards pop music, but the genre of Hungarian rap music has been growing in popularity and becoming one of the most beloved styles of music in the country.

Often referred as Magyar rap, there have been multiple eras and generations of Hungarian rappers, from the start with the 1990s to the cementing of the foundation for the Hungary rap scene during the 2000s, into the growth and expansion of the 2010s and currently of the 2020s.

The 1990s brought some of the very first Hungarian rappers to the forefront, artists like Ganxsta Zolee és a Kartel, Animal Cannibals, Funktasztikus, T.K.O, Dopeman, and Bëlga. The 2000s saw the light of Fluor Tomi, Siska Finuccsi, Speak, Ogli G, NKS, Hősök, Deego, Bigmek, and Sub Bass Monster, while during the 2010s Hungarian rappers like Beerseewalk , Barbárfivérek, DSP, Young G, Awful, and Fura Csé emerged. Not to leave out any current artists that are still active.

The current Hungarian rap scene stars dozens of artists, expanding well beyond its initial inception during the 1990s.

1. ESSEMM

Known for songs like “Rólunk szól,” “Neked írom,” and “A világ elől,” Essemm landed himself as a top tier rap artist in Hungary after years of an unyielding pursuit. Since his introduction during the 2000s, Essemm has released dozens of singles and albums like 112, Boros Meg A Kordik with Mr.Busta, Kapufornia, Piszkos 12, and Kutyatelep.

2. Missh

First appearing during the late 2000s, Missh would eventually emerge as one of the top Hungarian rappers. Throughout the course of his career Missh has produced popular tracks like “Budapest,” “Beled Estem,” “60NAP,” “Van Nulank Minden,” and “Csak Egyszer Mondom El.”

3. T.Danny

While top Hungarian pop star and rapper T.Danny made his debut during the late 2010s, he quickly landed himself among Hungary’s most cherished artists. A career that only dates back a few years has led to releases like “Megmondtam,” “Yoga,” “Woah,” “FASZAGYEREK,” “Elmut,” “UH,” and his breakout hit “Csak Te,” all alongside three acclaimed albums Rossz Ember, Szivtelen, and Senki.

4. bruno x spacc

With songs like “Budán vagy Pesten,” “Keverem,” “Aha-Aha,” “Hátmasszázs,” and Érzi a tekintetem,” and the album Paranoia of 2021, the duo of Bruno X Spacc have presented themselves as the future of Hungarian rap music, following their debut in 2020.

5. KKevin

Entering the landscape of Hungarian hip-hop music in 2020, the accelerate ascent of KKevin has been well documented. During his brief time within Hungary’s music scene, KKevin has dropped host chart topping songs, “Hazudtál,” “Top S***,” “Ördög,” “Kellett a pénz,” and “Chivas,” along with the album Paradox and Top S***.

6. AK26

Starring two Hungarian rap legends, Hiro and Giaj (Giajjeno), AK26 was brought into the world of hip-hop during the early 2010s. While initially the group was larger with several members, the two group of HIRO and GIAJ would officially form into becoming the faces of Hungary’s hip-hop scene, dropping seven albums since their debut album of Szókarabély.

7. Desh

A freshman artist to Hungary’s rap scene, but since his initial arrival in 2020 his stock has risen to the top of music. With two albums, DESHPERADO and A lo tuloldalan, and popular songs like “KUKÁSAUTÓ,” “MALIBU,” “Pullup,” or “Papa,” DESH has proven that he is the future of Hungarian hip-hop.

8. Beton.Hofi

One of the many newcomers of Hungary’s rap scene that are transforming hip-hop inside the Central European country into becoming a powerhouse. Beginning in 2021, Beton.Hofi has since built a name for himself. Removed from the crowd, the former athlete turned rapper has become a major force, releasing songs like “OFFWHITE,” “BAGIRA,” “HARD RESET,” and plenty more.

9. Ekhoe

Member of the ibbigang, Ekhoe has seen a swift surge in his stock as a Hungarian rapper. Reaching the top tier of the national rap scene, Ekhoe has only released three albums, Zajvihar (2020), Dior (2021), and Ostzalykep (2021), since his debut in the beginning of 2020.

10. Follow the Flow

Beginning during the mid-2010s as 6+ member band, Follow the Flow now consists of three members, achieving much success in the Hungarian rap scene. Their work and time in music has led to prestigious accolades, award nominations, and much praise and respect for their skillful abilities.

11. Rico

Debuting over ten years ago, Rico, who has often been seen performing alongside Miss Mood, has gradually made moves towards the top spots among Hungarian rappers. Gaining fan within Hungary’s music scene through drops like “Sirva Mulatunk,” “Vihar,” “12 honap,” “Magnes,” “Keresem a bajt,” and much more.

12. Dzsúdló

The versatile artist of Dzsúdló may be fresh onto the scene, but has been making much noise of late. Starting in 2019 and officially debuting in 2020, despite just getting off the ground Dzsúdló has created some of Hungary’s hottest songs, “Lej,” “Varnek,” “Spanom,” and “Hiszti,” along with two celebrated albums, Szornyeteg and Fotofobia.

13. BSW

The legendary group of Beerseewalk, aka BSW, are among the veteran Hungarian rappers that have remained present in today’s hip-hop scene. BSW first presented themselves as hip-hop artists in Hungary during the 2000s, and expanded their national stance in the 2010s with albums Rapstar and Picsa. In recent years, BSW has released top tracks, “YAAY,” “Miota elhagytal,” “Mokambo Gang,” and the praised album of Love, Sex, Rock & Roll.

14. Lil G

One of the Europe’s top female MCs, Lil G recently kickstarted her career during the late 2010s. Remaining on a steady rise, Lil G has performed songs like “Dislike,” “Nem kellesz,” “SEB,” “RAPettsarkú,” “A lelkem fáradt,” and “Értünk.”

15. Krúbi

Fresh off the release of his latest project, ÖSZTÖNLÉNY, award-winning Krúbi is often viewed as one of the best artists in Hungary. Krúbi entered the country’s music scene in the late 2010s with 2017’s “PestiEst,” “A Hős Krúbi,“ and “Orbán, Verd Ki A Ferinek.”

16. Lmen Prala

Representing the new generation of Hungarian rappers, Lmen Prala came into Hungary’s rap game and hip hop scene in 2017. Since entering, Lmen Prala has brought one of the most purest forms of hip-hop into Hungary, dropping fan favorites like “Polizei,” “Dastvidanja,” “Dubai,” “Fantastic,” and several others.

17. Children of Distance 

Once an aspiring Hungarian rap group of the 2000s has now reached legendary status as some of the most admired Hungarian rappers of recent time. A trio of some Hungary’s best MCs, Children of Distance has helped expand the Hungarian hip-hop base with albums like 333 km and songs like “Nélküled annyira más,” “Tegnap Lattalak,” “Nem menekülök el,” and “Emlékezz rám 2.”

19. Tirpa

Representing for the bad b*****s, Tiah is fresh off the release of her debut album Bad B****. One of the few female rap artists in Hungary, and one of the few newcomers that is ranked among the veterans and best MCs, this Hungarian rapper has showcased a promising future.

24. Deniz

A career that dates back two decades, Deniz has remained active inside of Hungary’s hip-hop scene since first appearing during the 2000s. In all, Deniz career has led to mega hits like “Elegem van,” “Nem érdekel,” “Ha Fajini kell Fajjon,” and “Ide várnak vissza.”

25. AKC Misi

Following his introduction in 2018, the producer and rapper AKC Misi would begin on a trajectory towards the top of music. Since coming onto the scene, AKC Misi has gained much recognition with hot songs like “Gyémánt,” “Szerenád,” “Senki Se Látta,” and “Bomba.”
